yellowTAB ZETA 1.2 differs from all previous versions of ZETA: non-compliant and abandoned applications were removed, the LocaleKit has been added even to programs where the source code is missing, the installation procedure has been sped up and the OS fine-tuned for speed improvements.

Hardware support:

• The Intel Extreme driver (i855 cards) has been drastically improved, the nVidia driver has been expanded upon. The OS now recognizes Via Unichrome cards, there is a basically functioning Radeon X driver.
• Serial ATA (S-ATA): S-ATA has been added to yellowTAB ZETA. It is now possible to access S-ATA drives using nforce, VIA, Intel and ATI chipsets.
• Support for multimedia keyboards by means of 'Shortcuts'
• PodSync supports iPod connectivity
• Printing: Over 400 new printer drivers have been added to the OS.
• JABA: DVDs are the mass storage medium of the present. JABA, Just Another Burning App, has been reworked and improved to support more filesystems and features.

Software:

• InfoServer: A complete info-system has been integrated into yellowTAB ZETA 1.2. The InfoServer alerts you of changes to your media playlist, the status of your CD/DVD burning progress, network connectivity and IP address and private messages in yahooMessenger, BeShare and Vision.
• Messengers: YahooMessenger is a new application to yellowTAB ZETA, updated AOL client, AIMessenger to work with the new networks.
• Preferences: The preferences app has been cleaned up, the interface has been redesigned with ease of use in mind.
• Design: The GUI has been reworked from the ground up, buttons, sliders, tabs, icons, menu bars ....
• VideoEditor: Improved the Video Editor, adding Ogg Vorbis and XviD support, and reworking the GUI to match the tabviews. You can impress your friends and relatives with your video editing, since VideoEditor is easy to use, fast and technologically up to date.
• Installer: The OS installation procedure needs to be smooth and simple. Although we always kept that in mind we still did not manage in the past to provide that experience, so we changed the way the Installer works. Particularily we focused on the many errors that the partition manager had. The Installer code has been cleaned up and stability and speed has improved dramatically.
• Documentation: The ZETA book is included as a PDF with yellowTAB ZETA 1.2. It is 160+ pages long and teaches you how to use, understand and make the most of ZETA and it's features.

In general, thousands of minor and hundreds of major fixes, particularily to the kernel, drivers and applications have been made. And many many more changes and fixes have been done which you will find out yourself step by step when you work with yellowTAB ZETA 1.2
